London finally got its Ballon d’Or night, and it belonged to Harry Kane and Alexia Putellas. The Ballon d’Or 2026 winners were crowned at the London Palladium on Monday, with Kane taking the men’s prize and Putellas winning the women’s award for the third time.
It was the 70th edition of the ceremony and the first one ever held outside France. Thirteen awards were handed out across the men’s and women’s game, and one country ran the show. Spanish players and coaches picked up trophy after trophy, on a night that also honoured Bukayo Saka for his work off the pitch.

Kane’s Night in His Own City
Harry Kane became the fifth English winner of the men’s Ballon d’Or, and the first since Michael Owen. Ronaldo Nazario handed him the trophy, a fitting moment as one great striker passed the honour to another. Kane said winning in London made the night special, and he thanked everyone who voted for him.
The numbers behind his place among the Ballon d’Or 2026 winners are hard to argue with. He scored 73 goals for club and country across the 2025-26 season, with 61 of them coming in just 51 games for Bayern Munich. Kylian Mbappe finished second in the vote, and Lamine Yamal came third.
Putellas Makes It Three
Alexia Putellas won the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time, adding 2026 to her wins in 2021 and 2022. She now joins her former Barcelona teammate Aitana Bonmati as the only women in history with three of these trophies. Ewa Pajor finished second, and Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw took third.
Putellas captained Barcelona to a quadruple last season, scoring 26 goals with 15 assists in 53 matches. She joined London City Lionesses in July, so her name on the Ballon d’Or 2026 winners list was read out in the city she now calls home. It felt like a home win.
Spain Runs the Night
Look down the Ballon d’Or 2026 winners list and one country keeps appearing. Lamine Yamal won the men’s Kopa Trophy for the third straight year, and he used his moment on stage to say his Barcelona and Spain teammate Pau Cubarsi deserved the award. Vicky Lopez took the women’s Kopa Trophy for the second year running, keeping Barcelona’s hold on the young player prizes.
The goalkeeping awards went the same way. Unai Simon of Athletic Bilbao won the men’s Yashin Trophy, and Barcelona’s Cata Coll won the women’s prize. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente was named men’s coach of the year after leading his country to the World Cup, while Barcelona’s Pere Romeu won the women’s coach award at just 32 years of age.
Goals, Clubs and One Special Award
The Gerd Muller Trophy for striker of the year went to Kane in the men’s game, a direct reward for those 73 goals. The women’s prize went to Charlyn Corral of Pachuca, who scored 55 goals for club and country at the age of 35. Corral’s story might be the most underrated one on the whole list.
Paris Saint-Germain were named men’s club of the year for the second straight year, and Ousmane Dembele collected the award for the two-time defending European champions. Barcelona Femeni won the women’s club award after a quadruple of Liga F, the Copa de la Reina, the Supercopa and the Women’s Champions League.
The Socrates Award went to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka for his charity work with BigShoe. Saka funded 50 container homes for families hit by the earthquake in Morocco, and he has paid for 120 life-changing operations for children across Africa. It was a warm reminder that this night can celebrate more than goals.
So that completes the Ballon d’Or 2026 winners list for 2026. Kane has the prize his whole career pointed towards, Putellas stands level with Bonmati on three, and Yamal leaves London with another Kopa Trophy and third place in the main vote. At 19, his turn at the very top feels close. The official ceremony coverage is on UEFA’s Ballon d’Or page.
